The Baguazhang is one of the three "classical inner styles" of Chinese wushu.
"Ba Gua" it means "eight trigrammis".
This term refers to eight basic principles described in the "Book of the Changes".
This term means that the style is the physical reflex of these eight principles and that its basic positions refer to eight trigrammis, the changes of positions refer to the changes of the trigrammis described in the "Book of the Changes".
"Zhang" mean "palm".
This term means that the style prefers to use the palms rather than the fists and the hooks, because the palm can strike as a fist and to grab as a hook.
The Baguazhang is a martial art, based on the theory of the continuous changes that they depend on the situation, the enemy is defeated with the ability, not with the brutal strength.
